Are blogs obsolete? Probably. I'm finding it a waste of time to post here when I get instant views in my social media. I'm trying to just use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for posting art (I admit, I get into other things on Twitter but I'm trying to keep it focused on art now. I swear, I really am!)

BACK ON BLOGGER AND NEW ILLUSTRATION WORK

Hey Everyone,

I'm going to be closing my Patreon. It just wasn't working out as I had hoped and I guess it's just not for me. So I'm going to start posting here again. I know blogs aren't used as much these days, but I want my work compiled somewhere that's easy to find in a web search. I've mostly been posting on Twitter and Facebook, but sometimes I think social media will collapse. Wishful thinking? (Just kidding, it has it's uses.) I may change the look of the blog again to make it look more like a portfolio site. Not sure yet.

I will gradually bring some of the art on Patreon back to this site, but for now here's the first piece in a new series I'm doing for Jordan Burton's After Megiddo.

Book Cover Idea

Back when I started doing paintings based on Beowulf, the idea was to do a fully painted illustrated version. These paintings were big (20 x 30) and I think I bit off more than I could chew at the time. N. C. Wyeth's book paintings (talk about big!) were kind of what influenced me to give it shot. But he was commissioned big bucks to do what he did. I couldn't devote that kind of time to mine when I had a full time job and family to take care of.

Anyway, I was playing around with one of those paintings in Photoshop recently and here's a mockup of the cover that might have been. Who know, maybe this (or something like it) will still happen someday.

Okay, nerds. Argue amongst yourselves....

Hulk Beats Everyone, Nerds. Ink on bristol board, 30 x 22.

Here's a recent commission I did. I really do feel bad about what I did to some of these characters, but some probably had it coming. Don't worry, all of the citizens were evacuated and made it out safely. Also, the client didn't want any female characters in the scene. Hulk's kind of a gentleman that way. I also decided to censor some of the gorier parts with some pixelation (it's not really hiding anything 😏).
