KIRBY CHARACTERS: Captain 3-D

Captain 3-D. Oil on hardboard, 8x10.

So not all of Kirby's designs were great. This was still fun to do.

Captain 3-D was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby for Harvey Comics. His first appearance was in Captain 3-D #1 (1953).

Star Wars Wednesday #11: JANGO UNCHAINED

Jango Fett. Oil on canvas, 16x20.
after LFL

Something a little different this week. Last year I was planning a painting series of Star Wars palette knife paintings. I only finished two and started this one before getting busy with other things. I had my oils out for a commission I'm working on and decided to finish this one. And there you go.

The title for this post was a lot more relevant and original when I was going to post it last year. I couldn't think of anything else, so I decided to just stick with it.

If you want to check out those other paintings, my Star Wars Wednesday posts so far, as well as other Star Wars posts from the past, check out my Star Wars Archive.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Speaking of Kirby Characters, Captain America: The Winter Soldier came out on DVD this week. In a recent post, I said that Guardians of the Galaxy was the best Marvel movie to date. But not by much. And Guardians is more of a sci-fi movie than a superhero movie. So, I'd still say Winter Soldier is the best superhero movie I've ever seen. Buy it!

Kirby Characters: Big Barda

Big Barda. Digital.

Here's another old one.

Big Barda was created by Jack Kirby for DC Comics. Her first appearance was in Mister Miracle #4 (1971).
