My Little Superhero

Inktober 31st

Two hours ago I had no idea what I would draw for today. Then my five year old decided to put on her rainbow unicorn cape and head gear over her Batgirl pajamas. Whammo! I had the drawing I would end Inktober with.

This Inktober worked way better than last year. I got a lot more comfortable inking, and inking with the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen in particular. I also feel I've gotten into a better routine of drawing. Developing a habit of drawing every day was one of my goals for this Inktober challenge. Now to keep it going.

I won't be posting every day, but I do plan to post more frequently than I have this past year. I picked up a couple commissions that I will share when they're finished. I also plan to finish a project that I've been working on for a couple of years. I'm taking that in a bit of a new direction and I'm happy with the way that's going so far.

So even though Inktober's done, I hope you come back and see what I'm working on. You can subscribe to the blog using the tool to the right. Also, if you're interested in a commission feel free to contact me.  At this time I'm only doing black and white drawings right now, but I'd be happy to consider what you want done.

As far as hurricane relief, anything posted prior to this post is still designated to that cause. I will probably let the auctions end and just have a fixed price for any available pieces from here on out.

That's all for now. I'm tired.

Mike

Unbreakable

Inktober 29th.

I watched M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable last night. With all of the superheroes I put on this blog, it's only right that I'd draw something from a film that I would easily place in my top five favorite superhero movies.

Check out my Ebay auctions that are presently going toward hurricane relief: https://www.ebay.com/usr/lynmiclyn

Selfie

Inktober 20th.

It's been several years since I did a self-portrait. Inktober seemed like a good time to do one.

I'm not  putting this mug on Ebay, but there are still many auctions listed for Hurricane Relief: https://www.ebay.com/usr/lynmiclyn

40 YEARS OF STAR WARS

Last year, the Sleeping Beauty drawing I did at my daughter's request was one of the most popular posts I shared. This is kind of a riff on that piece. I'm happy with the design and I think I'll return to this idea at some point to produce a more complete illustration.

World's Finest Preview

I'm not going to get this entire illustration done tonight, so I'm going to make this my Inktober 12th pic.

At the start of Inktober I said I was planning to use the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen for all of my drawings. Well, I'm switching it up with this one. I may have a couple of commissions coming so I'm getting some practice with the Pitt Artist Pens here to help me decide what I will use for the commissions.

This is what I was planning for the prompt "poison" last week before I decided I'd rather do a week of good guys. Had the pencil sketch done so I figured I ink it up and use it for today.

"A NEW HOPE"

Inktober 5th.

I probably shouldn't attempt likenesses with these quick drawings, and I had to draw this one really quick to get it in today. Or maybe I should attempt more likenesses and push myself. Hmm....

Anyway, this being the 40th anniversary of the first Star Wars movie, I wanted to make sure I got some drawings in to honor it. I have at least one other planned for this Inktober.

Sold

Batman: The Animated Series

I had planned to do another villain for today's Inktober drawing, but I had enough with real life villains in the last couple of days and just wasn't feeling it. So I'm going with good guys for a while.

I've been wanting to do some kind of homage to Batman: The Animated Series since it's debut was 25 years ago in September. So there you go.

Sold

KIRBY CHARACTERS: Quicksilver

Here's my first drawing for Inktober. I plan to stick to my usual subject matter, but I'm using the official Inktober prompt list. "Swift" may be an understatement for Quicksilver, but he was the next character I planned for my Kirby Character series.

I'm also planning to only use the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen for all of these drawings. I would really like to improve my ability to use that tool.

The scan came out kind of pixelated. Any tips on reducing that when scanning would be much appreciated.

And most importantly, here's the Ebay listing for this drawing. All proceeds, minus Ebay and PayPal fees, go to hurricane relief. I think that's about 87% of final sale will go to helping victims of the recent hurricane disaster.

Sold

Quicksilver was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics. His first appearance was in X-Men #4 (1964).
