Star Wars Wednesday #3: MANY BOTHANS DIED TO BRING US THIS ILLUSTRATION

Mon Mothma. Ink on bristol, 6 x 9.
after LFL

Here's another Pentel Pocket Brush Pen drawing. A lot of the drawings coming in this series will be of characters you might not expect or you might have never heard of, but I hope you check in anyway. I do have a few of the more popular characters coming.

And if you don't own the original trilogy, why not?

Star Wars Wednesday #2: IT'S A TRAP!

Admiral Ackbar. Ink on bristol board, 6 x 9.
after LFL

This is the first in a series of ink drawings done with the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen. It's a tool that can be tricky to use, but lend itself to drawing expressively. It's also great if you love inking with a brush, but can't always sit at a desk to work with a traditional brush and inkwell.

I wonder if Ackbar will eventually appear in Star Wars Rebels, which is looking better than I expected.

STAR WARS WEDNESDAY #1

Leia Cornered. Acrylic on Bristol, 7 3/4 x 16 1/8.

This is the first post in a new feature on the blog. Each Wednesday will be Star Wars Wednesday leading up to the new movie. I'm starting things off with a painting that I accidentally deleted from the blog during one of my redesigns. It was created for the very cool blog Cornered. It's based on the corner box of Star Wars #103. I had no idea when I did this that Star Wars would be going back to Marvel.

After Captain America, the Marvel Star Wars series was the next comic I collected. Last year my wife bought me the volume that collected those issues I had as a kid.

New Look, New Title

I'm trying out a new look for the blog and changing the title while I'm at it. The title is kind of a tongue in cheek way of accepting the way I draw--I DRAW LIKE MIKE LYNCH! (fellow artists know what I'm talking about.) It's also a way of poking fun at myself for at times wearing my influences right out there on my sleeve.

Here's some concept art for the tattooed gladiatrix Dania from Bid the Gods Arise.
